Susan Aguayo isn’t a politician. She’s a wife, mother, and grandmother devoted to serving God and putting the real needs of our community first.

Born in Peru, Susan came to the United States when she was five years old. She married her high school sweetheart, Ray, and in 2004, they found their way to New Mexico, which Susan is proud to call her home. Together, she and her husband planted roots in Rio Rancho, where they raised their seven children.

After losing her daughter, Kassy, to perinatal depression, she started a non-profit to find solutions for this debilitating disease and has become a strong advocate for addressing pressing issues like New Mexico’s high suicide rates.

Since 2015, Susan has operated the non-profit organization titled Kassy’s Kause to help bring awareness of perinatal depression. Her documentary, Kassy’s Hope ~ MyLife4Yours, is used as an educational tool for social workers, nurses, visiting programs, and schools.

In addition to operating a non-profit, Susan is a coordinator for PSI (Postpartum Support International) where she services all corners of New Mexico who are in need of resources. Susan’s concern for the well-being and safety of all our communities is one of her highest priorities.

From the effects of bullying to the increased risks of maternal mental health, Susan is committed to increasing awareness and providing access to treatment for those in our community who need it most.
